Within minutes of getting the diagnosis you are told you will be getting numerous appointments set up with numerous doctors, technicians, and specialists. You go from one appointment to another, having to take off work to go. While you are overwhelmed with this busy new schedule and all the information being thrown at you, in the back of your mind you are anxiously asking yourself, ‘How am I going to do this?’ On top of all of this, I had the added stress of having to come from out of town for my treatments. I cannot begin to express how grateful I was to receive money for gas from Black Hills Road Trip of Hope. Although it may seem like such a small gesture, it was a massive weight taken off my shoulders and my family who will drive me for 25 treatments. The ease of the Visa gift card means I can fill up with gas at my local gas station. Again, it may seem seem small but it provided normalcy for me to go to my own gas station. I cannot thank this organization or its donorship enough for providing that normalcy in a time when everything has been taken out of my control.”

As I was receiving my treatment a representative of this organization visited me in my room offering help in the form of gift cards to help with the out-of-pocket expenses of chemo treatment.

    I live 170 miles from Rapid City, SD which is the closest place to receive treatment. As I travel down this road of a breast cancer diagnosis, it is overwhelming to begin with. The fact that they have donated gift cards has been a great blessing! I have been using these gift cards for fuel for travel and meals when I must be away from home. I am on a year-long protocol, so this donation will certainly help as the months go by. The travel expenses are one less thing I will worry about thanks to Black Hills Road Trip of Hope!"
